Hello everyone!
My name is Annie & I just became a second-time Standardbred owner with my new mare, Distinctiv Star (Minnie). I have yet to start her, but we hope to be able to enter a few events in the Standardbred Showcase come July.
I heard about this club from the breeding farm I picked her up at. Does anyone know how do I go about becoming an official member? Thanks!
ANNIE

HI, and thanks for joining the forum. What breeding farm was that?? (really curious now!) It's so good to hear that the word is spreading! If you go to the website www.freewebs.com/unharnessedstandardbredsclub you'll see a membership page on the left hand side. Just copy and paste the membership form to an e-mail and send it to unharnessedstandardbredsclub@hotmail.com I'll then send you a membership # and a high point award form to fill out so you have a chance to become the first UHSC high point champ. Thanks! Sarah

Welcome Annie - I am originally from Ottawa but lived in Windsor and worked with Brian lauzon Veterinarian at Windsor raceway and a few STB farms while I was there. We were in Windsor for 6 years.
MacINtosh stables? Bryce Fenn? Now have to remember all the barns I worked at.....
Look forward to hearing more about you and your STB's. Did you get them through OSAS or the breeder directly?
Do you know Peggy Bastien? Flying W Stables in Puce ?

Thanks for all the nice welcomes! I will go get myself signed up ASAP I have recieved both of my standardbreds from St. Lad's Farm in Ruscom (just 45min East of Windsor). I work there during the breeding seasons to lend an extra hand. St. Lad's is definitely THE place to take your mare if anyone still is breeding their mares. Top notch care! My first mare, was Toppled Over by Die Laughing out of La Reina and she was owned previously by Rod Dufford & Larry Pollard. My new mare is Distinctiv Star (9yrs) by Armbro Emerson out of Stormy Bonnie and she was owned previously by Sandy Spencer. She has her first foal, a 2yr old colt, coming out this year so fingers crossed he goes well. Is anyone else hoping to attend the showcase this summer? Morning Star - I am familiar with Dr. Lauzon, MacIntosh Stables, and Flying W. I even rode at Flying W for a time years ago when it first opened. How's the horse community in Ottawa vs Windsor?

You used to ride when it first opened - I was barn manager there for the first 8 months and visited often. Bill was my farrier and one of my horses was there as a lesson horse.
Post pics of your horses and also fill our your story so we cna add it to our display booth in may...
I live in New Brunswick now.... A lot better than Windsor. Tons and tons of trails - lots of trees and wilderness... No more flat lands nd back roads....

Oh it'd be nice to ride out on a trail... Windsor is definitely missing out in that department! Still figuring out how to work this site but no worries, I'll pester you all with lots of pics sometime soon!
