Had a wonderful epiphany....bought a bitless bridle for my Welsh/standardbred. She placed 1st at the Orono Welsh show this month in part-Welsh halter mares, 3 and over - 1st place and the championship! for that class.... Riding her has been a definite challenge but I finally have found equipment that she loves....and me too. A bitless bridle. From the moment I put it on her she became a different horse - calm, willing, not pulling on the bit, not overly excited, etc. etc. She has offered a canter a few times now - everything about her has changed....for the better. I've had horses for 30 years now and she has been my biggest challenge....just passing along this info if any of you are having challenges with your standardbreds that you are retraining....

I know you told me the other day at the store, but where did you buy it?? I had a terrible ride on BJ last night with him pulling and ignoring me completely and I am seriously considering a bitless bridle. Hopefully it will work as well for me as it did you!

I started using the Nurtural Bitless bridle last summer and I love it. My horse never had trouble with the simple loose ring snaffle I was using but I like the idea that I can have the same softness in her without having to use a bit in her mouth. She seems very happy with it and responded to it perfectly from day one. I got it from the companies ebay store. They have a nice return policy in case you find out it is not right for you. www.nurturalhorse.com/
