Well, like everyone else here, I'm a standardbred lover! I fluked into it - when I was 14, the lady who rented my neighbour's barn needed some help so my neighbour recommended me (she knew I rode/had experience with horses) and I got the job! It was just mucking at first but as my boss got to know me, she let me help out with more and more and eventually put me on my first jogger behind a HUGE, SLOW, black 11 year old trotter named Midnight. He was such a sweet horse and taught me how to drive and not freak out when I only had hands to control a horse, not legs and seat. I worked for a couple different trainers through high school/college and just fell in love with the breed. I found homes for a few while I worked at the track and am the friend that helped Rachel/fancythat find a home for a standardbred just this past weekend who was going to be sent to Kitchener. I used to "claim" horses that would come into the race barn as my future jumper (which would piss my boss off to no end...haha) and my boss would joke that I was going to end up with a field full of "crippled, useless" standardbreds - that would be just fine by me! ;D I've never owned one but I'm sure that won't last long.

Hi there! Both UHSC and I are both grooms, and right now I have two at home (a freebie and one on lay-up) and 2 stalls to fill, which I'm sure will be filled with my future dressage horses soon! lol
