Hello all! I'm Kris & am owned a wonderful 16.1H grey Standie mare named Southern Comfort (aka Southie). She is one of the most wonderful horses I've ever had the pleasure of owning. I have to admit though, I was not a fan of the breed until I met her. I'm not saying that I disliked them, I guess I was just indifferent to them. That's all changed now though as she is absolutley amazing! She was near death when I first purchased her. She was thinner than I've ever seen any horse & showed signs of obvious abuse as well. It's taken a long time & a lot of work for me to gain her trust... and it's been worth every struggle along the way! As for the breed supposedly being hot...well, let's just say that anybody who met Southie would change their opinion in a second! I can let her go without being lunged or ridden for over a month, jump on bareback with a halter & go for a ride with no problems what-so-ever. Her high withers even serve as a roost for our rooster on occassion . Anyway, this post is turning into a novel very quickly so I guess I'd better wrap it up.

Her high withers even serve as a roost for our rooster on occassion . Hi Kris! Great to hear Southie won your heart. I just had to laugh at this part. My oldie standardbred, before I lost her last fall, shared her stall with my mini chickens (bantams). Here's the rooster on her bum: And a chicken on the bum! Bess was just the best gal I could have ever asked for.

Mine are bantees too! I tried to get a pic but by the time I ran to the house & got back out to the barn he had gotten off . Your pics are adorable! Morning Star Acres, I just posted some pics of her in the picture category .
