Hi everyone, my name is Sarah and I own an 8-year old STDB gelding named Forever Heaven. Heaven was very sucessful on the track as a pacer and was retired last August before he "broke down". He was lucky to have a great owner who loved him not only for the money he brought in and gave Heaven to me on one condition, to provide a great home.
Since then, Heaven has become my best friend. He's also become an amazing riding horse and I will event with him at the entry level next summer. He turned heads at schooling shows this past year for his "classic hunter look" as people would call it. I would always follow their comments up with "he's a Standardbred" and while some people would be amazed and think twice about the breed, there are still the people who would immediately lose interest.
I've worked with Standardbreds on the track, and after owning my own, I can't say enough good things about the breed. I think it's great to see so many people committed to their well being on and off the track and in their future careers!
