Hey, I'm Mel, I'm 19. I was referred here by Morning Star Acres.
I would like to introduce Prancer(Registered name "Maple Grove Sapath"). My 11 year old black bay Standardbred mare. Prancer's had a long hardworking life. Retired from racing and moved to Newfoundland from Prince Edward Island when she was young. I suspect she suffered a stifle injury and was retired to breed, had one foal, and was shipped here. Then she was privately owned by a man who used her for what must have been very ... interesting and fast carriage rides. He sold her to a young girl who worked her very hard every day, but never showed her, She sold her because she was "nuts". Then a lady named Kelly bought her, she was used as a school horse and calmed down considerably, she was used for the more advanced students who could handle her. I started leasing her when I was 16. A year later Kelly and I decided it would be best if I bought Prancer to be my own. Then I bought my dream horse, and Kelly finally got to buy hers(an 11 year old Belgian named Champ, who she helped raise and tran from a yearling). Prancer was retired from school horse-dom. We've been moving around trying to find the right barn for us. She's now semi-retired, fat and very, very happy being my spoiled #1.
I also have a 3 year old Belgian X filly named Juniper(nickname Joon).
