So I have been thinking (bad idea I know) and I think I need some help running the club. The forum is going great, but I haven't had a single person re-new their free club membership so far this year. I know it's early, but it's worrisome. As some of you may know, I have a newborn coming in 2 weeks, a 2 1/2 year old, a horse that needs training, and a job i have to return to. Because of all of this, the club is not doing so hot. I need help to run it or I'll be forced to close it. I will keep the forum open, but that's it. I have so many ideas to get the club going more. Things like fund raising, shows, promotion, but I have no help to do these things. I would like to get my own show circuit going someday, that is my ultimate goal, but it's not looking good at this point. SO, all you 102 members of this forum, if you have some extra time, and a desire to help me help the horses please PM or e-mail me! I need a help in all areas from fund raising, to promotion, even treasurer, so just jump in and help! I'll be off work for the at least 6 months so this is the time to dig our heels in!

There was someone looking for you that emailed me....I gave her your email and told her to call you as it was about STBS showing......I think that would be the break you need and someone to help and getting the UHSC out there......Lorna I think it was.....

hmmm being as youare going to be doing this stuff in Canada I'm not thinking I can be of much help. But I can at times brainstorm ideas so I'll see what I can think up.
Now one thing we have done at another forum was do a special Quilt. Everyone would make a square and send it to one member that would actually put it together. The Quilt was then raffled of at an event. The Forum does this yearly to raise money for an equine rescue in the US.
So maybe something like that?

I paint sometimes custom portraits of peoples horses. I'd be willing to donate a painting if you want to raffle one off. The winner can send me pics and I will doa painting for them. Her is one I did for someone two years ago.

very nice sf.....Great ideas also. I am in the process of seeing along with a collegue if we can get a STB showcase going on this year... May only be able to get 2 shows in to start but if all goes well we could actually in New Brunswick Canada have more shows...May also be combining with Ontario.. So any members that need or want a membership get in now to get your points started.

Sadly I live far away too, but I'm definitely willing to help in anything that can be done through email/mail. If you send me an email with some specifics you need help with I'll get back to you and see what I can do!

I have been really off the ball since York went on strike. I am usually organized have every membership and magazine renewed and I have been so bad without the conistency of school. I would love to join up again as a member but at this point, trust me you don't want me handling things. I already got asked to handle my equestrian teams sweaters.. Hopefully once things settle down I can be of more help.

Ok, so here's what I have planned for right now. Cafe Press is a great site where you can sell t-shirts/bumper stickers ect The problem there is that i still don't have a design for our logo. Once i get something that everyone likes, then I want to do that. I had planned on using any money from the calendars to pay for some advertising. If anyone knows anywhere that offers free or cheap advertising please let me know. I am talking to the other ON groups about shows, and show dates. I hope to have one in the area, and I had a venue lined up for that last year, so hopefully she'll still want to do it this year. I really like the ideas so far. I'm a little lazy right now, and so hopefully once baby is here and settled i can really sit down and commit to some of the ideas given. Crazy times at the UHSC headquarters right now!! But I'm up for the challenge! Thanks everyone, and keep spreading the word!

Sarah I got an email from a member here and nona and I have decided and brainstormed wanting to get a CLUB going up here in NB for trail hours and shows for STB only or even once a year or so doing an all breed fund raiser.
We will be brainstorming at some point to get something going to actually be able to hold 1-2 shows this year in 2009 here in the Maritimes. I have access to multiple facilities to hold clinics and shows and nona has a few contacts as well so both of us will be working on getting a STB club up here of which we can affiliate withUHSC Club as well giving everyone the chance to join and participate

[No worries Lucy! I know you're probably stressed to the max! But I see you're going back Monday! YEAH Yes finally going back! Woohoo. Now it is just a matter of settling in and back to school. Can I email you the membership form, or do I have to print and mail one?

equestrian - I got the info for equine review - I will need to look into getting 6 stalls if we are to put up a display and also have 4 horses. Stalls for teh week-end are 69.00 - we bring our own hay - have to bring our own clean up tools and they are charging 6.00/bag of shaving which I htink if the stalls get bedded with 2 each they will be ok....Horses have to be there and displays for 1130 Friday night - and must remain there until 4PM sunday.
It will be a bit costly but a friend of mine will be splitting 2 stalls for teh display area in the center with 2 horses on each side.....Last year we had 1 STB and this year there will be 4 of them........YEAH>..as long as the kids are still up to showing for the week-end for fun......Otherwise I can look into getting riders for the horses........BUT I think the kids will go for it....
Anyhow...For the club we are hoping to have a draft up and something publically announced to be able to get a few memberships and have some info ready for then. The review is in May so that gives us lots fo time.....
We need ideas for membership fees.... classes - I was thinking trail hours collected yearly with maybe little awards at year end..Accumulated hours like APHA does....I gathered in 2 years over 1000 hours with my APHA show mare. So have lots of ideas...Now to brainstorm and put them together......
May have to get you to take a trip to moncton some week-end to review ideas/...
Oh and this will be counted for Ontario members as well as part of MSA and UHSC grouping together.
We still need to look into registration of a club name..... I have to ask nona what we had come up with and make sure we can get it free registered as a club...
